Usage:

• Pan by clicking and dragging any point on the map.
• Zoom by clicking on + or - in the upper right.
• Open the map in a larger window by clicking on the expand arrows in the upper left.
• Click on the camera to save the image to your computer.
• Hover over a country to see the number of citations and hits.
• Click on the list view to see unmappable terms.

How the map is generated:

• Shading is generated based on current (not historical) country boundaries.
• The map is based on geographical subject terms tagged for each citation.
• The hit count (not the citation count) is used to calculate the darkness of the shade for each country.
• Sometimes a single citation adds multiple hits to a country. For example, Paris, France, and Europe each count as one hit for France. (The subject Europe provides one hit to each European country.)
