Exactly 75 years ago, on March 4, 1933, was Johan Nordström his inaugural lecture at Uppsala University as the first professor of the substance of ideas and learning history. The background to this event includes fascinating insights into the academic life, from both a biographical and ideologically. The news of the new professorship was revealed by the great Gustavus Festival In November 1932, when 300-year anniversary of the hero's death was celebrated. Also inaugurated the newly restored Royal Hall at Uppsala Castle, which not been operational for a very long time, and it was the young builder Anders Diös' first masterpiece. We must remind ourselves what national moods prevailing in the country at this time. Gustavus Adolphus had still strong grip on the senses. That same year, 1932, published Nils Ahnlunds biography of Gustavus Adolphus the Great, and Ahnlund can safely be described as the leading historian this time. That same year, was established also in Uppsala Gustavus Adolphus Academy, whose role is to support research on Swedish folklore, folk history, dialects, etc. It was obvious that the University would celebrate the 300th anniversary since Gustavus Adolphus rightly was considered as the university's great benefactors.
